Real Salt Lake signed 18-year-old Venezuelan forward Jeizon Ramírez, the club announced Thursday. He will join the team during preseason, pending receipt of his international transfer certificate and P1 visa.

“Jeizon is a dynamic attacking player with a nose for goal and a playmaking ability to create for his teammates,” RSL general manager Elliot Fall said in a statement. “He is already an experienced professional and can help our team immediately, but at just 18 years old, has tremendous capacity to develop. We are excited to see what he will be able to do under the tutelage of our staff and development structure.”

Ramírez will occupy the young designated player slot left vacant by the Jefferson Savarino, who RSL reportedly sold to Brazilian club Atlético Mineiro. Savarino has not been seen training with Salt Lake recently.

Ramírez comes on a transfer from Tachira in Venezuela, where the forward started his professional career at 16 years old. He scored five goals and assisted on seven others in 46 regular season matches with the club.
