TRAX derails in downtown Salt Lake City; expect train delays on chilly Wednesday

Utah News

A TRAX train derailed early Wednesday in downtown Salt Lake City, transit officials confirmed.

The Red Line car moved off the tracks near 400 South and Main Street, the Utah Transit Authority reported.

“Please dress warm and be prepared for longer wait times than usual,” UTA tweeted.

According to a UTA spokesman, repairs crews are “having issues with the repair equipment,” and it will take “a few more hours than originally anticipated” to get the train back on the track and restore regular service.
