KOLKATA: The Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation has resumed its Rs 75-crore project to repair broken roads in Salt Lake. The civic body had started repairing roads in all the 41 wards before the Puja but work remained suspended during the festive season.
The civic body has started work on the stretch in front of Tank Number 10 near Karunamoyee that leads towards Matri Sadan hospital. The civic authorities have started peeling off the existing damaged road surface. After grouting, bitumen will be laid on it.
Many of the stretches in Salt Lake are still in bad condition, with motorists, specially bikers, facing inconvenience while plying. Motorists have been complaining about the potholes for a long time.
Civic officials said road repair work could not be taken up early this year due to the delayed rains that continued till the last week of September.
